Namaste and welcome to your Kedarnath Yatra! Our Himalayan journey begins early in the morning as we depart from Haridwar. En route, we stop for darshan at the Dhari Devi Temple, located amidst the holy waters of the Alaknanda River. After receiving blessings, we continue our journey through the spiritually rich towns of Devprayag and Rudraprayag, known for their sacred confluences.
With lunch and tea breaks along the way, we ensure a comfortable journey. By evening, we arrive in Sonprayag, where we check into our hotel for a peaceful rest before embarking on the sacred trek to Kedarnath the next day.
The much-awaited day of the Kedarnath Yatra is here! We start early, taking a shuttle from Sonprayag to Gaurikund. Please note, during peak season, there may be a 1–2 hour queue for the shuttle, so patience and an early start are essential. Before heading out, we securely leave our extra luggage at the Sonprayag hotel, taking only what’s needed for the Kedarnath night stay.
From Gaurikund, we embark on a 16 km spiritual trek to Kedarnath. The trek is a journey of devotion, surrounded by chants of “Har Har Mahadev,” the soothing sound of the Mandakini River, and the energy of fellow yatries. For those needing assistance, horses and palkis are available.
By late afternoon or evening, we reach Kedarnath and check into our cozy guesthouse, located close to the Kedarnath Temple. After a fulfilling darshan, we take a moment of silence to soak in the divinity, the mountain air, and the deep satisfaction of having reached Baba Kedar’s doorstep.
We begin our day in Kedarnath with the serene and soul-touching morning aarti, a moment that stays etched in the hearts of every devotee. After darshan, we explore the sacred surroundings including the Bhairavnath Temple, the statue of Adi Shankaracharya, and the awe-inspiring Bheem Shila, the divine rock believed to have protected the Kedarnath Temple during the 2013 floods.
By mid-morning, we start our 16 km trek back from Kedarnath to Gaurikund, descending through the same breathtaking landscapes. From Gaurikund, we take the shuttle back to Sonprayag, where we enjoy a relaxed lunch and short rest.
The journey continues as we drive to Chopta, the pristine alpine destination also called the Mini Switzerland of India. Surrounded by meadows, rhododendron forests, and sweeping Himalayan views, Chopta is a rejuvenating escape after the spiritual high of Kedarnath. Check in to your peaceful camp or guesthouse for an overnight stay under the stars.
After a nourishing breakfast at Chopta, we set out on a rewarding trek to Tungnath, the highest Shiva temple in the world. This sacred journey is one of the most scenic sections of the entire Kedarnath Yatra, taking you through serene alpine meadows, lush rhododendron forests, and panoramic Garhwal landscapes.
Upon reaching the ancient Tungnath Temple, we offer our prayers and take in the peaceful energy that fills the air at 3,680 meters. For those seeking an extra thrill and unmatched Himalayan vistas, an optional 1.5 km trek to Chandrashila peak is available. This summit, at over 4,000 meters, offers breathtaking 360-degree views of major Himalayan peaks like Nanda Devi, Trishul, and Chaukhamba.
By early afternoon, we return to Chopta for a hearty lunch and spend the evening relaxing amidst forested hills, soaking in nature’s silence and stillness.
After a fulfilling breakfast, we embark on a breathtaking drive from Chopta to Badrinath, a key highlight of the Kedarnath, Tungnath, and Badrinath Yatra from Haridwar. This journey takes us along the winding mountain roads of the Alaknanda Valley, passing through spiritually rich and picturesque towns like Gopeshwar and Joshimath.
As the sacred Alaknanda River guides us through the Garhwal Himalayas, we soak in panoramic views and enjoy peaceful stopovers along the route. By late afternoon or early evening, we reach Badrinath, one of the revered Char Dham pilgrimage sites.
Time permitting, we visit the awe-inspiring Badrinath Temple for its enchanting evening darshan, where flickering lamps and rhythmic chants create a divine atmosphere. After this spiritual experience, we retire to our hotel for dinner and a peaceful night’s rest.
We begin the final day of our Kedarnath, Tungnath, and Badrinath Yatra from Haridwar with a serene early morning darshan at Badrinath Temple, one of India’s most sacred Char Dham sites. Devotees also take a holy dip in Tapt Kund, the natural thermal spring believed to purify the soul.
If time permits, we explore Mana Village, the last Indian settlement near the Indo-Tibet border. Here, you can visit sacred sites like Vyas Gufa, where Sage Vyas composed the Mahabharata, and witness the origin point of the Saraswati River.
After a soulful morning, we enjoy breakfast and begin our scenic drive back to Haridwar, concluding this spiritually charged Himalayan yatra. With stops for tea and lunch along the way, we reach Haridwar by evening—hearts full, souls renewed, and memories of Kedarnath, Tungnath, and Badrinath etched forever.
