We begin early from Sonprayag, taking a shared shuttle to Gaurikund (approx. 5 km). During peak yatra season, the queue for the shuttle can take 1?2 hours, so an early start and patience are essential.
At Gaurikund, the holy base of the Kedarnath trek, we begin the 16 km uphill journey to Kedarnath Temple. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks and fueled by the chants of -Har Har Mahadev,- this sacred path winds through pine forests, steep climbs, and flowing streams of the Mandakini River. The air is alive with devotion, and every step feels like a walk closer to divinity.
For yatris needing support, pony services and palkis (palanquins) are available throughout the route.
By late afternoon or evening, we reach the ancient Kedarnath Temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, and a cornerstone of the Char Dham Kedarnath circuit. After checking into our guesthouse (close to the temple), we freshen up and proceed for Kedarnath Darshan.
